Electronics Boutique May 1993 Catalog

I'm posting this shortly after the January 1993 catalog and they are nearly identical. The spring catalog between them has a different cover art style but is otherwise very similar. The August and October 1993 ones I posted also not long ago are of course roughly the same too. So I won't have a lot to say this time but you're sick of hearing my thoughts anyway.

For what feels like the 100th time I need to note that this is the last catalog I have to scan. It's not the last I'm posting as I still have one saved for xmas in a few months. So again I'm being cool and offering this in two sizes. There are 1200px wide versions that are a couple meg. If you're linking to these from a forum post or article it would be cool of you to link to those versions. There are also 2400px wide versions that are many meg. If you want a high quality copy for your archive or whatever, grab those versions.

I'm going to let spellcheck decide if gigundous is a real word. OK, it is. I learned something new today.

Yeah, fine, Street Fighter II for $74.99. Let's get that out of the way. That little corner gave me so much grief. The game was delayed for a few months after this and I had to deal with many unhappy customers who thought I personally was responsible for it.

The $11.11 off the Genesis with any game purchase did not consider all the sub-$10 games in the clearance bin.

Right, NBA games used to be released after the season instead of before. I suppose with no way to update the rosters that kinda makes sense.

The January 1993 catalog censored the cover of Night Trap. Here's the scandalous to someone version.

I don't keep track but I suspect this will be the most popular page in the catalog.

A game called Outlander would have a very different vibe today I think.

That looks to be beta box art for Super High Impact - the color of the box at least for sure.

Neat, there's some Japanese label on that Batman Returns box. I don't know what the deal with that is.

I never read the description for the Game Boy before since I knew what it was. Interesting that they chose to describe how it had buttons.

According to that coupon, some locations might possibly still have Neo Geo systems in stock. The chain stopped carrying it in 1992. Wouldn't be a surprise if a couple systems in odd markets remained unsold for over a year.

So there's May 1993. This was a relatively short catalog. As the person doing the scanning, cropping, and resizing that is appreciated. It's kind of nice, it really cuts to the chase and highlights the major releases.
